Slovenia and Serbia Finish 1-1 in Euro 2024 Match

Slovenia takes early lead, Serbia Fights Back

In a thrilling match that went down to the wire, Serbia came back from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw with Slovenia in their Euro 2024 opener. Zan Karnicnik gave Slovenia the lead in the 56th minute but Dusan Vlahovic equalized for Serbia in the 93rd minute, heading in a cross from Filip Kostic.

The result leaves both teams with one point after the first round of matches in Group C. Serbia will face Norway in their next match on June 23 while Slovenia will take on Sweden.

Slovenia started the match brightly and created several chances in the early stages. However, it was Serbia who took the lead against the run of play when Karnicnik headed home a cross from Josip Ilicic.

Serbia pressed for an equalizer but could not find a way through the Slovenian defense. Slovenia could have extended their lead in the 70th minute but Karnicnik missed a golden chance, shooting wide from close range.

Just when it seemed that Slovenia would hold on for the win, Serbia struck in the dying minutes. Kostic delivered a perfect cross from the left flank and Vlahovic rose highest to head the ball into the back of the net.
